    Spectral Correlation in Incommensurate Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes

    We investigate the energy spectra of clean incommensurate double-walled carbon nanotubes, and find that the overall spectral properties are described by the so-called critical statistics of Anderson metal-insulator transition. In the energy spectra, there exist three different regimes characterized by Wigner-Dyson, Poisson, and semi-Poisson distributions. This feature implies that the electron transport in incommensurate multi-walled nanotubes can be either diffusive, ballistic, or intermediate between them, depending on the position of the Fermi energy.Comment: final version to appear in Phys.     The newly observed open-charm states in quark model

    Comparing the measured properties of the newly observed open-charm states D(2550), D(2600), D(2750), D(2760), D_{s1}(2710), D_{sJ}(2860), and D_{sJ}(3040) with our predicted spectroscopy and strong decays in a constituent quark model, we find that: (1) the D(2\,^1S_0) assignment to D(2550) remains open for its too broad width determined by experiment; (2) the D(2600) and Ds1(2710)D_{s1}(2710) can be identified as the 2\,^3S_1-1\,^3D_1 mixtures; (3) if the D(2760) and D(2750) are indeed the same resonance, they would be the D(1\,^3D_3); otherwise, they could be assigned as the D(1\,^3D_3) and D2(1D)D^\prime_2(1D), respectively; (4) the DsJ(2860)D_{sJ}(2860) could be either the Ds1(2710)D_{s1}(2710)'s partner or the D_s(1\,^3D_3); and (5) both the Ds1(2P)D_{s1}(2P) and Ds1(2P)D^\prime_{s1}(2P) interpretations for the DsJ(3040)D_{sJ}(3040) seem likely. The E1E1 and M1M1 radiative decays of these sates are also studied.     Evidence for CP Violation in B0 -> D+D- Decays

    We report measurements of the branching fraction and CP violation parameters in B0 -> D+D- decays. The results are based on a data sample that contains 535 x 10^6 BBbar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance, with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. We obtain [1.97 +- 0.20 (stat) +- 0.20 (syst)] x 10^(-4) for the branching fraction of B0 -> D+D-. The measured values of the CP violation parameters are: S = -1.13 +- 0.37 +- 0.09, A = 0.91 +- 0.23 +- 0.06, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. We find evidence of CP violation in B0 -> D+D- at the 4.1 sigma confidence level. While the value of S is consistent with expectations from other measurements, the value of the parameter A favors large direct CP violation at the 3.2 sigma confidence level, in contradiction to Standard Model expectations.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figures, submitted to PR

    Study of the Baryon-Antibaryon Low-Mass Enhancements in Charmless Three-body Baryonic B Decays

    The angular distributions of the baryon-antibaryon low-mass enhancements seen in the charmless three-body baryonic B decays B+ -> p pbar K+, B0 -> p pbar Ks, and B0 -> p Lambdabar pi- are reported. A quark fragmentation interpretation is supported, while the gluonic resonance picture is disfavored. Searches for the Theta+ and Theta++ pentaquarks in the relevant decay modes and possible glueball states G with 2.2 GeV/c2 < M-ppbar < 2.4 GeV/c2 in the ppbar systems give null results. We set upper limits on the products of branching fractions, B(B0 -> Theta+ p)\times B(Theta+ -> p Ks) Theta++ pbar) \times B(Theta++ -> p K+) G K+) \times B(G -> p pbar) < 4.1 \times 10^{-7} at the 90% confidence level. The analysis is based on a 140 fb^{-1} data sample recorded on the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider.Comment: 14 pages, 13 figure files, update of hep-ex/0409010 for journal submisssio

    Evidence of time-dependent CP violation in the decay B0 to D*+D*-

    We report a measurement of the CP-odd fraction and the time-dependent CP violation in B0 to D*+D*- decays, using 657.10^6 BBbar events collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. We measure a CP-odd fraction of Rperp=0.125+/-0.043(stat)+/-0.023(syst). From the distributions of the proper-time intervals between a B0to D*+D*- decay and the other B meson in the event, we obtain evidence of CP violation with measured parameters AD*+D*-=0.15+/-0.13(stat)+/-0.04(syst) and SD*+D*-=-0.96+/-0.25(stat)-0.16+0.13(syst).Comment: Published in PR

    Observation of X(3872)J/ψγX(3872)\to J/\psi \gamma and search for X(3872)ψγX(3872)\to\psi'\gamma in B decays

    We report a study of B(J/ψγ)KB\to (J/\psi \gamma) K and B(ψγ)KB\to (\psi' \gamma)K decay modes using 772×106772\times 10^{6} BBˉB\bar{B} events collected at the \Upsilon(4S)resonancewiththeBelledetectorattheKEKBenergyasymmetric resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e^+ e^-collider.Weobserve collider. We observe X(3872) \to J/\psi \gammaandreportthefirstevidencefor and report the first evidence for \chi_{c2} \to J/\psi \gammain in B\to (X_{c\bar{c}}\gamma) Kdecays,whileinasearchfor decays, while in a search for X(3872) \to \psi' \gammanosignificantsignalisfound.Wemeasurethebranchingfractions, no significant signal is found. We measure the branching fractions, \mathcal{B}(B^{\pm} \to X(3872) K^{\pm}) \mathcal{B}(X(3872) \to J/\psi\gamma) = (1.78^{+0.48}_{-0.44}\pm 0.12)\times 10^{-6},, \mathcal{B} (B^{\pm} \to\chi_{c2} K^{\pm})= (1.11^{+0.36}_{-0.34} \pm 0.09) \times 10^{-5},, \mathcal{B}(B^{\pm} \to X(3872) K^{\pm}) \mathcal{B}(X(3872) \to \psi'\gamma) < 3.45\times 10^{-6}$ (upper limit at 90% C.L.) and also provide upper limits for other searches.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figure

    Study of the BX(3872)(D0Dˉ0)KB\to X(3872)(\to D^{*0}\bar D^0)K decay

    We present a study of BX(3872)KB\to X(3872)K with X(3872) decaying to D0Dˉ0D^{*0}\bar D^0 using a sample of 657 million BBˉB\bar B pairs recorded at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ee^+e^- collider. Both D0D0γD^{*0}\to D^0\gamma and D0D0π0D^{*0}\to D^0\pi^0 decay modes are used. We find a peak of 50.111.1+14.850.1^{+14.8}_{-11.1} events with a mass of (3872.90.40.5+0.6+0.4)MeV/c2(3872.9^{+0.6 +0.4}_{-0.4 -0.5}){\rm MeV}/c^2, a width of (3.91.41.1+2.8+0.2)MeV/c2(3.9^{+2.8 +0.2}_{-1.4 -1.1}){\rm MeV}/c^2 and a product branching fraction B(BX(3872)K)×B(X(3872)D0Dˉ0)=(0.80±0.20±0.10)×104{\cal B}(B\to X(3872)K)\times{\cal B}(X(3872)\to D^{*0}\bar D^0)=(0.80\pm0.20\pm0.10)\times10^{-4}, where the first errors are statistical and the second ones are systematic. The significance of the signal is 6.4σ6.4\sigma. The difference between the fitted mass and the D0Dˉ0D^{*0}\bar D^0 threshold is calculated to be (1.10.40.3+0.6+0.1)MeV/c2(1.1^{+0.6 +0.1}_{-0.4 -0.3}){\rm MeV}/c^2. We also obtain an upper limit on the product of branching fractions B(BY(3940)K)×B(Y(3940)D0Dˉ0){\cal B}(B\to Y(3940)K)\times{\cal B}(Y(3940)\to D^{*0}\bar D^0) of 0.67×1040.67\times10^{-4} at 90% CL.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures, BELLE-CONF-0832 contributed to ICHEP 2008, revised and submitted to Phys.     Precision measurement of charged pion and kaon differential cross sections in electron-positron annihilation at Q = 10.52 GeV

    Measurements of inclusive differential cross sections for charged pion and kaon production in electron-positron annihilation have been carried out at a center-of-mass energy of Q = 10.52 GeV. The measurements were performed with the Belle detector at the KEKB electron-positron collider using a data sample containing 113 million e+e- -> qqbar events, where q={u,d,s,c}. We present charge-integrated differential cross sections d\sigma_h+-/dz for h+- = pi+-, K+- as a function of the relative hadron energy z = 2*E_h / sqrt{s} from 0.2 to 0.98. The combined statistical and systematic uncertainties for pi+- (K+-) are 4% (4%) at z ~ 0.6 and 15% (24%) at z ~ 0.9. The cross sections are the first measurements of the z-dependence of pion and kaon production for z > 0.7 as well as the first precision cross section measurements at a center-of-mass energy far below the Z^0 resonance used by the experiments at LEP and SLC.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures.     Bounds on the width, mass difference and other properties of X(3872) --> pi+pi-J/psi decays

    We present results from a study of X(3872) --> pi+pi- J/psi decays produced via exclusive B--> K X(3872) decays. We determine the mass to be M_X(3872)= (3871.84\pm 0.27 (stat)\pm 0.19 (syst)) MeV, a 90% CL upper limit on the natural width of Gamma_X(3872) K+X(3872))xBf(X(3872)-->pi+pi-J/psi)=(8.61 \pm 0.82(stat) \pm 0.52 (syst)) x10^{-6}, and a ratio of branching fractions Bf(B0--> K0 X(3872))/BF(B+--> K+ X(3872))=0.50\pm 0.14(stat)\pm0.04(syst). The difference in mass between the X(3872)-->pi+pi-J/psi signals in B+ and B0 decays is Delta M_{X(3872)= (-0.69 \pm 0.97 (stat)} \pm 0.19 (syst)) MeV. A search for a charged partner of the X(3872) in the decays Bbar0-->K- X+ or B+-->K0X+, X+-->pi+pi0 J/psi resulted in upper limits on the product branching fractions for these processes that are well below expectations for the case that the X(3872) is the neutral member of an isospin triplet. In addition, we examine possible J^{PC} quantum number assignments for the X(3872) based on comparisons of angular correlations between final state particles in X(3872)-->pi+pi-J/psi decays with simulated data for J^{PC} values of 1^{++} and 2^{-+}. We examine the influence of rho-omega interference in the M(pi+pi-) spectrum. The analysis is based on a 711fb^{-1} data sample that contains 772 million BBbar meson pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance in the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider.Comment: 15 pages, 10 figures and 6 tables.
